A Letter From Mari

Over 30 years ago, my mother and father took a great risk and left their families in Mexico in hopes of building a better life in this land of freedom and opportunity.  They endured many years of suffering and sacrifice in order to provide for their 5 children.  Like many others, I appreciate everything my parents have done and continue to do.

The majority of Hispanics who migrate from their country bring with them the faith and family values they grew up with.  Over time, many grow accustomed to —and even adapt to— some of the social norms in this country which are considered to be unacceptable in theirs.  Marriage and family life have taken a beating, as divorce rates sky rocket and abortions become a convenience.  I only have two children, but everyone seems to think that's enough!

Too many Latinos have accepted the idea that freedom is the "right" to do anything we want, whenever we want, no matter what.  Well, common sense tells me that everything I do has an affect, in some way or another, on the people who immediately surround me, such as my beloved family and friends.

In this country, abortion has become a convenient solution to the "problem" of an unplanned pregnancy.  If abortion is a woman's choice and her right, then why is she deprived of knowing all the facts?  It is the only surgical procedure that does not require you to give or receive details!  Doctors don't tell you that some forms of birth-control cause abortions, or that choosing to have an abortion can create a life-time of suffering and grief.

I have been through many traumatic experiences that have formed the value I have for life; and what I have learned from working with Tulare-Kings Right to Life is that no matter the circumstances —inconvenient or difficult as they may be— an unborn baby is always a blessing, for they are the one thing left in this world that is purely innocent and untainted.  The womb has become the most dangerous place in the world, and if we as a human race do not stand up and speak up for the little ones, then what hope will our future have?

Thank you for your interest and support of the unborn and Latinos4Life. I look forward to working with you!

Continuing the fight for Life…
